Leap Year

Leap Year – The Extra Day Of The Year

Everyone got an extra day in 2020…, because it was leap year! Every four years, the second month of the year happens to have 29 days instead of 28. As much as February might sound fun, knowing it’s a leap year might make you gasp, unless it’s your birthday! But having an extra 24 hours still sounds useful.

Quick Fact: Why do we have leap years? It’s because the Earth takes exactly 365.24 days to orbit the sun. This means an extra day must be added every four years to keep us in sync with the cosmic clock!

Around 4.1 million people across the world have been born on this day. It’s actually not that bad to be born on a day that comes every four years. You will earn yourself a title, a “leapling” or “leaper”. How did  you spent the 29th Feburary? Maybe grabbed some drinks among friends in a cosy lounge at Aspers Stratford or spent it on something adventurous. Bungy jumping, sky diving…  Some might have made the day extra special.

So, see you in 2024 for another leap year.
